Suzuki Piano & Rhythmic Solfège
Note: For students ages 4-6 who are new to piano and our curriculum, we recommend Piano Moves.
Rhythmic Solfège
High-energy, exciting, and fun, this class allows students to experience music joyfully from the inside out!
Designed to increase coordination, balance, attention, flexibility, focus, spatial awareness, emotional knowledge, and vocal precision, through independent and cooperative learning.
Dalcroze classes provide a deep and solid base for further Dalcroze training and preparation for high-level vocal, theatrical, and instrumental study.
This curriculum is provided in conjunction with the Dalcroze School of the Rockies.
The Dalcroze™ Rhythmic- Solfège™ sequence provides all of the necessary building blocks to achieve success with an instrument.
This process-oriented program builds on the work begun in Eurhythmics, maintaining the Dalcrozian tenants of joy, discovery and experiential education as its foundation, and begins to delve into musical subjects and literature. Assignments on a keyboard percussion instrument and homework are a regular part of the curriculum. A commitment from both parent and child to practice together at least 10 minutes each day, 5 days each week is expected. This program is modeled after similar methods in Western Europe, where the goal is to provide comprehensive musicianship.
All Rhythmic-Solfège™ students are required to purchase a metallophone ($35, due at the first class). This instrument will be provided on the first day of classes and will be used throughout the Rhythmic-Solfège™ sequence (5-year sequence). Students must bring this instrument to each class along with a 3-ring binder with their completed homework assignments. Parents must practice with their child a minimum of 10 minutes, 5 days each week to ensure that their child is progressing and maximizing his or her potential. This curriculum is provided through the Dalcroze School of the Rockies.
