We will be running two free Music Together® demos weeks in April to give you the opportunity to try out a class! Please note there is a limit of one demo class per family and we have 4 different dates available.

Move, dance, explore, learn! Music in Motion is a movement-based music curriculum introducing concepts like rhythm, melody, and harmony in a social and imaginative way. Students embody music joyfully through creative games, improvisation, and expression. Music in Motion is focused not only on vivid musical foundations but also supports children's emotional, intellectual, and physical development. This curriculum is inspired by Dalcroze Eurhythmics and is part of a musicianship sequence that students can continue through age 14.

Note: Music in Motion is also available with more concentrated music studies in Rhythmic Solfège.

Our Advanced Dalcroze class will be offered on Mondays from 1:30-2:45 (75min class)

For Advanced Dalcroze/AP:
Mondays 1:30-2:45 (75min course) - Advanced Dalcroze Plastique Animée Class for Rhythmic Solfege graduates

* An alternative time I have for our RS V cohort is to have this class on Tuesday at ~1:30, but I have a feeling we will likely keep Mondays due to the majority of people's schedules, but I would love to hear if folks have Tuesday as an option.

Advanced Dalcroze Plastique Animée
As in all Dalcroze courses, we will learn music through discovery, purposeful movement, and joy! In Plastique Animée, we will study composed music. For each piece, we will create a visual representation of musical concepts in the score through movement. Specially for Integral Steps, Dawn Pratson, Katie Couch and other Dalcroze guest artists from across the country will join us throughout the year to lead classes.

•  We will study an ever-changing selection of pieces each year that represent a survey of Music History.
•  By popular request we will also learn more about the art of Conducting
•  We will also review and build upon rhythm, solfège, and harmony skills learned in the Rhythmic-Solfège courses.
•  We will study many aspects of form and structure, including:
  • Phrase and Period Structures
  • Binary, Ternary, and Rounded Binary Forms
  • Song Form
  • Rondo and Sonata Rondo Forms
  • Sonata Allegro Form

More about Advanced Dalcroze Classes:

•  For students ages 11-18,  Advanced Dalcroze classes that allow students to study music at a deep level and eventually prepare students to succeed at the College Board’s Advanced Placement Exam in Music Theory.
•  Our Advanced Dalcroze Courses build off of all the knowledge and information acquired in the Rhythmic-Solfège courses. All of this information is assumed knowledge for the start of any Advanced Dalcroze Course.
•  Benefits of this education include improved intonation, finer listening capability, better ensemble skills, energetic rhythmic and metric vitality, and a deepened understanding of musical analysis, nuance, and aesthetics as they relate to performance.
•  The complete Advanced Dalcroze (AD) course offering provides students with excellent instruction and a deep appreciation of music through purposeful movement. All classes are 75 minutes long and meet once per week for 28 weeks.

The Dalcroze Rhythmic- Solfège sequence provides all of the necessary building blocks to achieve success with any instrument. Rhythmic Solfège builds on the principles of learning music through movement with the addition of focused musical study on keyboard percussion; the end goal of the sequence is comprehensive musicianship!
This is a process-oriented program using the Dalcrozian tenants of joy, discovery and experiential education as its foundation, and delving into musical subjects and literature. Assignments on a keyboard percussion instrument and homework are a regular part of the curriculum. A commitment from both parent and child to practice together at least 10 minutes each day, 5 days each week is expected.ith improved concentration and coordination, increased confidence and self esteem, reduced stress and anxiety, and physical and mental strength and flexibility.
