Week 1: Dinos!
October 12-16 Time: 8:30am - 3:30pm* Ages: 3-7 years Cost: $325 *Pre-care available from 7.30am ($40 for the week) and aftercare available until 5pm ($60 for the week) Did you know that there were over 700 different kinds of Dinosaurs, and they ruled the earth for 160 millions years? Let’s explore these fascinating giants of old! We’ll explore dinosaurs in their own time, learning about carnivores, herbivores, and omnivores, and the ways they lived. We’ll also discover dinosaurs now, becoming paleontologists and discovering fossils and bones and the stories they tell. Through Music in Motion we will use percussion, songs, rhythmic movement, and more to embody dinosaur facts and tell dinosaur tales. Hands-on science projects and games will allow us to dynamically explore dinosaur species, body parts, habitat, behavior, and extinction. Fun art projects will have us crafting our own 3D dinosaurs, using different media to make dinosaur homes and prints and masks. We can’t wait to learn about these epic creatures in a socially distanced and comfortable environment, while having an epically fun time together! Note: Parents should provide a daily nut-free lunch and snacks for the morning and afternoon (the number of snacks will depend on whether you choose pre/after-care) |
Week 2: Trees, Creepies & Crawlies
October 19-23 Time: 8:30am - 3:30pm* Ages: 3-7 years Cost: $325 *Pre-care available from 7.30am ($40 for the week) and aftercare available until 5pm ($60 for the week) Did you know that spiders are not insects? They are arachnids along with scorpions and ticks. Spiders and insects can be helpful to us and are more than just creepy crawlers. Join us in discovering what makes insects and spiders unique along with some exploration about their body parts, habitats and behavior. We’ll learn songs, move our bodies rhythmically and creatively, do some hands-on science experiments and make some unique art projects all centered around our favorite 8-legged friends! Have you ever wondered what sounds might look like if we could see them? Do you know why trees can stand so still yet grow so tall, and if they like to live alone or in a family? Can you imagine what a musical ensemble made out of natural materials might sound like? Join us in exploring the science of trees, movement, and sound, incorporating art projects as well as musical adventures! We will create multimedia art and instruments out of found natural materials, discover sound waves and tree life cycles, and move rhythmically to live music amongst the trees of the arboretum. Trees teach us that a community is strongest when it works patiently together, and we are so excited to get to play and learn with our community, as we practice socially distanced togetherness with you! Note: Parents should provide a daily nut-free lunch and snacks for the morning and afternoon (the number of snacks will depend on whether you choose pre/after-care) |
