Eurhythmics: metric transformation, meters of 6/8 and 3/4, Brahms folk song, physical sensations and cuing of different meters
Aaron Butler (USA) "Metric Transformation with Brahms"
Combining 3/4 and 6/8 is endlessly fun! In this class, we'll focus on how we prompt the shift between these two meters – how we physically signal it to each other – as well as how to recognize it quickly in the score. We'll also see how Brahms cleverly layers them beneath a deceptively simple folk song.
